Open Call Making Mirrors – Of Bodies and Gazes
Beyond the white walls of galleries and cultural institutions art grows beyond itself, does justice to its potential by initiating political, spiritual and material transformation and can become a tool that intervenes in the everyday life of all people.
“Re/Positionierung – Critical Whiteness/Perspectives of Color”, a series of lectures, which took place at the NGBK in Berlin in 2009, provided a theoretical background about the interconnectivities of art, Whiteness, racism and empowerment. The intention of the forthcoming project at the NGBK is to offer space for practical art work dealing with these topics.
The members of METANATIONALE/AG Re/Positionierung are addressing activists and artists, looking for interventions located between art and activism for its new project entitled “Making Mirrors – Of Bodies and Gazes”.
We welcome approaches concerned with themes such as colonialism, racism, critical whiteness, empowerment and Perspectives of Color making them accessible to a broad public and rendering them visible, audible, sensible.
