Prinzessinnengarten Kreuzberg Humanure Lab / Åsa Sonjasdotter (visual artist) and Sabine Meyer (graphic designer)

An afternoon workshop on stories surrounding human manure composting: The Prinzessinnengarten Humanure Lab deals with ways to turn the valuable resource of human manure – humanure – into healthy soil. In the lab, techniques, practices and knowledge around humanure are made sophisticated in order to become accessible for people to use. The lab works for a change in approach: away from the description of humans as consuming, apocalyptic masses, towards the approach of humans as fertile bodies that can be resourceful contributors within nurturing life cycles. The workshop will start by presenting the work in the humanure laboratory and historic as well as recent research on human waste composting. The next step will be a brainstorming - together with the participants  - on slogans and visuals that reverberate the nurturing power of human waste composting. The workshop will result in a pool of material, which will be processed into graphics to be printed on t-shirts, posters, stickers etc.

The event is part of the project »Licht Luft Scheiße [Light Air Shit]. Perspectives on Ecology and Modernity« - a joint production of: Botanischer Garten und Botanisches Museum der Freien Universität Berlin (BGBM), Martin-Elsaesser-Stiftung, Nachbarschaftsakademie im Prinzessinnengarten Kreuzberg and neue Gesellschaft für bildende Kunst (nGbK).
