Presentation of the Karl-Liebknecht-Strasse conversion with the architects Hütten & Paläste

In December 2021, the nGbK launched a competition to convert a former McDonald's (710m² floor space) into an exhibition, events, work and office space, taking into account its long-term usage after the departure of the nGbK (scheduled for 2027) and the development of a curatorial practice. The architects c/o now, coopdisco and Büro für Konstruktivismus were invited to take part. A jury consisting of experts on architecture (Elisabeth Endres, Christa Kamleithner, Anh-Linh-Ngo) and art (Joerg Franzbecker, Annette Maechtel, Olga Schubert) unanimously selected the design by Hütten & Paläste. Nanni Grau and Frank Schönert from Hütten & Paläste will use a model to present their concept and its potential for reconfiguration, followed by a discussion with members.
