Book preview and performance "Pants Wear Skirts. Erfurt Women Artists’ Group 1984—1994"

Following the exhibition “Hosen haben Röcke an. Die Künstlerinnengruppe Erfurt 1984—1994” at the nGbK, members of the Erfurt Women Artists’ Group, together with the curators and editors, present the catalogue of the same name, due to be published by the nGbK and Hatje Cantz in 2022.

With a short film on the exhibition and a discussion with its artists and curators moderated by Kathrin Peters (in German), the topicality and relevance of the women artists’ group will be explored with reference to this first comprehensive publication of the subject, as well as taking a look at the working processes of artists’ collectives then and now. In addition, members of the Künstlerinnengruppe will perform together for the first time since 1994, reviving the collective’s diversity of voices.
