The project X Properties wanted to make tangible, visible and audible how urban space changes when more and more of it is speculatively appropriated and economized. The aim was to make it understandable how we can contrast a financialization of the city with a collectively desirable, non-financialized urban design. In the podcast Jana talks to three communication experts and urban activists about the changes in Berlin as well as the togetherness and language(s), ideas and cycles in the Berlin rent movement and urban design.
Jenny is a space activist and accomplice of residents and urban political initiatives, for example at the Stadtteilbüro Friedrichshain and hosts the show Fassadenfunk at the free radio "Studio Ansage", where she discusses monthly city and rent topics with people from the initiative landscape.
Sandy is a communication designer and accompanies urban activism with visual communication from his büro image-shift. He was part of the tenant protest of Kotti & Co at Kottbusser Tor, is involved in the association kotti-coop and in the neighborhood council of the neighborhood management Zentrum Kreuzberg/ Oranienstraße.
Wouter is an art historian from Amsterdam, a city where people tend to live in property. And in the tenants' city of Berlin, he is involved in public relations with the socialization campaign Deutsche Wohnen & Co. expropriate, where he also hosts the podcast: "Von Menschen und Mieten".
