Sonja Hornung & Daniele Tognozzi invite you to a collective reading of THE ESG SHITSHOW or The Tragedy of the Horizon: a melodrama about the proliferation of greenwashing and the finance structures that promote it.

Comprised of quotes copied from the internet, the work features the voices of the World Bank, an idealistic UN intern, a disillusioned Black Rock sustainability investor, former US vice-president Al Gore, an expert leftist macroeconomist, an ecofeminist, and a self-righteous activist – among others. THE ESG SHITSHOW raises questions around power and performativity, complicity, deep-seated structural inequalities, and what happens when representation is reduced to the management of risk.

The collective reading (in English) will be followed by an open discussion.
The work is an extension of the installation THE ESG SHOW, which can be viewed in the exhibition.

After the reading, a listening session by ~pes (Elizabeth Gallon-Droste & Pablo Torres) will take place. Through a compos(t)ing soundscape, the session remembers fragments of the Wuhle River Basin in Hellersdorf picked up collectively during the soundwalk Walking ~ Listening with the Wuhle~River on August 4, 2023, within the frame of the event series Artistic Ecologies. The session invites to trace the multiple expressions of the Wuhle river by attuning to its vibrant weave, engaging and wondering of its possibilities of resilience, adaptation, and re-creation.
