The fourth and last film night of Artistic Ecologies presents four short films that deal with possibilities and limits, spaces and practices of social change. The program sketches a field of tension between documentary and fiction.

In revisión remix re-existencia, based on archival materials and comics by the cartoonist Ulianov Chalarka, Christian Diaz Orejarena searches for audiovisual correspondences of Colombia’s peasant resistance history in the urban present. This Place is Every Place stages a dialogue between two young women in the Stockholm satellite town of Tensta. Both the Arab Spring and the May 2013 riots in Stockholm’s migrant-dominated suburbs provide a mental backdrop for Ane Hjort Guttu’s cinematic study of personal and political crises after the end of social modernity. The first McDonald’s franchise in the Ruhr region is the backdrop for Silke Schönfeld’s Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Former employees and young cultural workers discuss the history and future of the store in the center of Herne, which has been vacant for more than ten years. With the project re-existencia Hellersdorf, the collective rampe:aktion tests the transferability of decolonial concepts and practices from the Latin American region to the periphery of Berlin. The video was created – like revisión remix re-existencia – during workshops with young people.

The films will be shown with English subtitles. The subsequent audience discussion will be held in German/English.
