European Art Academies hosted by German Kunstvereine. A format linking Art Education and Curatorial Practice

Year: 2007 Type: Print publication Languages: English Format: 16 x 25 cm, softcover with flaps, glue binding Scope: 224 p., numerous images, color and b/w ISBN: 9783865605184 Cooperation: Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther König, AdKV

This publication concludes the two-year exhibition and lecture series CROSSKICK, which linked European art schools and German Kunstvereine. This series, initiated by Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher Kunstvereine (ADKV), sought to expand the current debate on contemporary artistic models of training with current exhibition practices and perspectival rooms for action. The publication brings the current debate around knowledge production and use – triggered by the Bologna process and the reforms linked to it – into a dialogue between artistic and curatorial practice. The fourteen individual projects that took place from May 2006 to November 2007 at thirteen Kunstvereine and in cooperation with thirty European art schools were conceived in selected dialogs between the participating Kunstvereine and art schools and linked to current debate by essays written by external writers. Illustrations document the various programmatics of production context, exhibition format, and publication that emerged against this backdrop.

The nGbK was involved in CROSSKICK with the exhibition and publication of RigaREVIEW, an exchange with students from the Latvian Academy of Arts.
