Development of the French working class. From the Second Empire to the Paris Commune
The working group responsible for this exhibition at the nGbK produced a catalogue with visual documentation of the Paris Commune of 1871, plus three booklets with commentary and accompanying materials. This publication is the first accompanying booklet, produced with a student collective that had studied the Commune at Berlin’s Free University. The first chapters are a preview of Die Klassenkämpfe in Frankreich 1789–1971 und die Pariser Kommune (Class struggles in France from 1789 through 1971 and the Paris Commune), a book scheduled for publication in 1972. The group sought to pay tribute to the historical importance of the Commune and to shed new light on this chapter in history—against the bourgeoisie and for the working class.
