Grand Prix d’Amour. Paintings by Funny van Dannen
This vertical-format RealismusStudio publication is a folder with three colored plates, a list of works, and a short text by Sabine Vogel entitled “Tits, tears, and chocolate wafers.” Inside there is a sketch of a fat angel and the artist’s handwritten “Mother and Son Story.” In her text, Vogel characterizes the painter, singer-songwriter, and writer (born 1958) in a few brief lines: “Animals, urges, and French fries, penis, pilsner, and green meadows: all a yearning heart might desire is wandering around in Funny van Dannen’s pictures.” The exhibition of the same name took place in 1987 at the nGbK on Tempelhofer Ufer.
