In the spring of 1988, the nGbK hosted the exhibition Homeless People that had previously been shown at Dortmund’s Museum of Art and Cultural History. With the city’s University of Applied Arts, the museum regularly organizes an international photojournalism workshop, this time on the theme of homeless people. An important goal of the event is to bring students together with well-known photographers, creating links between current and historical positions. This goal is also reflected in the catalogue that presents the work of established photographers alongside that of students. Series on themes such as “asylum seekers – arrival,” “German emigrants in Jamaica,” or “unregulated settlement” are introduced by a short text, focusing on the precarious situation of refugees and migrants.
