RealismusStudio 6

Nil Fricke – Giovanni Orlando – Barbara Quandt

Year: 1978 Type: Loose-leaf collection Languages: German Format: DIN A4, loose sheets, punched with file-strip

The sixth RealismusStudio publication is an A4-format loose-leaf portfolio. Featuring the artists Nil Fricke, Giovanni Orlando, and Barbara Quandt, it documented and accompanied their exhibition and two discussion events at the nGbK in the spring of 1978. The folder contains short biographies, texts written by the painters, and lists of works. In his pictures, Fricke uses “every material from chicken’s eggs to normal oil paint to the leftover coffee in my cup” and deals with the theme of society and the state; Orlando reflects on cultural work and realism; and Quandt’s pictures are shaped by her workplace—she was a youth worker and educator at a children’s adventure playground, later also working in a young offenders’ detention center.

Work group: Valdis J. Āboliņš, Agathe Haag, Gerd Herr, Dieter Masuhr, Barbara Straka
