City views – Berlin/New York Exchange

The concept of the double exhibition organized by RealismusStudio, the first part in Berlin and the second in New York, is described by Thomas Wulffen on the cover of the catalogue as follows: “Two situations overlap. One refers to Berlin, the other to New York. An exchange takes place: New York artists work in Berlin, Berlin artists in New York. Each brings his/her specific view of his/her situation of origin, which must then be related to the initially unknown situation in the new location.” The black-and-white catalogue presents the artists in pairs in five chapters divided up by media (painting, video, performance): Bärbel Rothhaar and Ann Messner, Werner Zein and Alan Moore/David Blair, Peter Mönnig and John Fekner, Norbert Stück and Guy Martin, Arnold Dreyblatt and Penelope Wehrli. A text by Beatrice Stammer describes the difficulties encountered while realizing the project.
