The Two-Gender-System as a Human Rights Violation: DOCUMENTATION
1-0-1 intersex pursues the question of how normative gender concepts are developed in demarcation of those whose gender is ‘ambiguous’ and are maintained by making physical diversity invisible, and by accepting violations of the intersex people’s physical integrity and worth. Furthermore, the publication explores how these concepts regulate everyday social relations and why intersexuality affects us all. In doing so 1-0-1 intersex offers an open invitation to consider possible changes. The publication contains artistic, activist, and scholarly contributions that initiate a broad discussion of gender boundaries.
Supplementing the more comprehensive exhibition catalog, the small booklet contains contributions by Roz Mortimer, Del LaGrace Volcano, Tyyne Claudia Pollmann, subRosa & James Pei-Mun Tsang, Ins A Kromminga, Eli SeMbessakwini, and Terre Thaemlitz, as well as documentation of numerous events accompanying the exhibition.
