Based on the text ‘Teilnehmen - Teilhaben - Teilgeben. A critical reflection on discourses and practices of participation in dance’ by Yvonne Hardt, the guests will present their current work in the Wedding got talent play club. The play club is a participatory programme offered by Ballhaus Prinzenallee (Wedding) for teenagers and young adults for the first time.

In order to discuss and question selected working methods and questions about the participants’ own understanding of participation, the text will be read together in excerpts. The reading is livened up by individual practical (physical) exercises from the play club.

The text is available online and free of charge here. Participation is free and no previous knowledge is required. Copies of the text will be distributed on site. The reading meeting will be held in German spoken language.

The Lektüretreffen (reading meeting) is a format that was developed in cooperation with KontextSchule in order to read relevant literature in the field of art education, art and theory together and to enable an exchange between freelance art educators.

Gabriel Galindez Cruz is a dancer, dance teacher and choreographer who works at home and abroad. For over 15 years he has directed the children’s and youth company of Sasha Waltz & Guests. Gabriel has experience in working with people without formal dance training and with children with special needs. He regularly gives dance workshops and holds lectures and seminars for people who use dance as an educational and social tool. He also designs and is responsible for school and inclusive education projects.

Sarah Israel works in local and international contexts as a dramaturge, curator and arts mediator in the field of performing arts. For her, art is both the most beautiful form of expression to reflect on the world and oneself, as well as an educational and social tool to bring about collective change.
