Kunst im Untergrund is a biennial, open and anonymous competition for art in public space with references to the Berlin subway. Its origins lie in Posters for Peace, which were presented in 1958 in the Alexanderplatz subway station; since 1992 it has been organized by the nGbK. The New Urban Publics edition focuses on the transformation of social practices in digital and analog public space. Based on the idea of the square as a place of encounter and the common good, Kottbusser Tor, Strausberger Platz and Rotes Rathaus with its subway stations serve as starting points for the selected artistic interventions by Irene Fernández Arcas, Sunny Pfalzer, Julieta Ortiz de Latierro, image-shift, Liminal Beast of Prey and Chargé.

With contributions by: Annette Maechtel (greeting), Alexandra Pirici.
Designed by Rimini Berlin.
