About the work
„The Builder’s Daughter: Everything is Peachy“ fuses two distinct elements, each with its own significance within the installation. The first component introduces a new iteration of the „The Builder’s Daughter“ series through scaffolding—a symbol, for the artist, of renegotiating spatial dynamics. This scaffolding, carefully positioned within the gallery space of ngbk, represents a dialogue between the artist and the institution. Initially, the negotiation involved differing entry points, eventually culminating in a compromise: the scaffolding temporarily holding the gallery door ajar during the exhibition’s opening before being relocated inside. In contrast to the sturdy object of the scaffolding, the second element unfolds as a 5-meter-long drawing by the artist, depicting scenes of a landscape in gentle peach and yellow tones and figurative scenes streaked with lines of smoke and fire. This drawing, part of the therapeutic „Everything is Peachy“ series, evokes a sense of softness and complexity. It invites viewers to interpret its nuanced symbols without verbal elucidation, offering a space for personal reflection. These components provide multiple perspectives: some emerge from negotiation and spatial integration, others from personal and therapeutic exploration to enable a multidimensional interpretation of positions of otherness.
