Weltoffenes Berlin: Artist Talk with Onur Karaoğlu
As part of his Weltoffenes Berlin Fellowship, artist Onur Karaoğlu will be in conversation with art critic Ingo Arend.
The evening will begin with Karaoğlu’s 15-minute reading from his new text Forever Young, based on interviews with queer elders conducted during his research on queer aging in Berlin. He will then share insights into his process, possible future forms of the project, and how it relates to questions of queer visibility, care, and intergenerational memory.
In conversation with Ingo Arend, Karaoğlu will discuss how his initial comparative research between Berlin and Turkey has evolved amid growing pressures on queer representation in Turkey. Together, they will consider the current art scene in Istanbul, the possibilities and limits of spaces for queer artistic production, and how art can create transformative spaces for minorities across different contexts.
