RealismusStudio 12. Frank Suplie: painting 1973–1980
This publication is a folder documenting the exhibition of the same name in May and June 1980 at the nGbK space on Hardenbergstrasse. Frank Suplie, born 1950, focusses in his work on urban landscapes. At first glance, the introduction explains, his paintings seem “to play to the current fashion in romanticizing Kreuzberg. Bethanien by full moon, views across rooftops from a factory loft, the demolition of the Sportpalast – nothing is missing, but these pictures have nothing to do with the romanticism of Kreuzberg courtyards.” The folder contains several color plates and two black-and-white sketches of a courtyard and a typical “Berlin room” (a large room with just one window overlooking a courtyard), a brief biography, a list of exhibits, and an interview with Suplie by members of RealismusStudio.
