Volker Tannert: Evolutions
RealismusStudio continued its exhibition series on contemporary art with the work of painter, sculptor, and graphic artist Volker Tannert, born 1955 in Cologne. The curators aimed to present artists “who engage authentically and critically with relevant issues of the moment.” Tannert, who studied under Gerhard Richter and Klaus Rinke at the Düsseldorf Art Academy between 1975 and 1979, created several important works of New Painting in the early 1980s. His pictures deal cryptically with existential questions of individual and social being. As well as a brief biography, the booklet contains illustrations in color and black-and-white, essays by Ulla Frohne and Barbara Straka, as well as several associative texts on individual pictures.
