This catalog accompanied the two-part exhibition of the same name on art, AIDS, and activism organized by the nGbK’s RealismusStudio work group. It is divided into two phases: 1987 through 1995, the period of the greatest despair and dismay during the AIDS crisis, marked by political activism against discrimination and the struggle for visibility, and 1995 through the present, reflecting on the upheavals of the last twenty years and featuring more private, biographical works. The catalog combines images of individual works and elements from the exhibition with essays by Frank Wagner, Martin Dannecker, and Detlev Pusch that go into more depth on AIDS, art, education, and social movements. Featured artists include Ei Arakawa, AA Bronson, Elmgreen & Dragset, General Idea, Susi Pop, Aura Rosenberg, Pola Sieverding, and Wolfgang Tillmans.
