Striche ziehen
Director: Gerd Kroske
DE 2014
96 min
German with English subtitles

A white line across the colorful wall on the West Berlin side: an image of protest against the trivialization of the inner-German border. The artistic action by five artists who had left the country in November 1986 ended with a momentous arrest by GDR border guards.
The story begins in the Weimar punk scene of the 1980s. More than 30 years later, it becomes clear that there was a leak. In “Striche ziehen” (Drawing Lines), Gerd Kroske explores the depths of betrayal, repression, and forgiveness with great sensitivity.

The screening is followed by a conversation with Gerd Kroske, moderated by Florian Wüst (in German).
