Finissage Municipal Kitchens: Küfa (Küche für alle/Kitchen for all)
Municipal Kitchens’ closing event features a collective cooking, chopping and feasting event with Torhaus Koch Kollektiv. Bring ingredients – leftovers from your fridge or produce from your garden, bring your friends or just your curiosity. The event will bring together artists and food activists from Berlin and beyond to discuss the possibilities of a kitchen for everyone.
There will be a full afternoon program. Join at any one of these points:
14:30 – Get completely involved in the “KÜFA” – chopping, cooking and chatting with Torhaus Koch Kollektiv in preparation for our final communal feast. Registration is required.
16:30 – Come to ‘Taste the Waste’ with a performance lecture by Municipal Kitchens food curator Cherry Truluck, followed by a World Café discussion in which we will collectively reimagine communal eating in cities through the lens of food waste.
18:00 – Join the KÜFA – our final communal feast.
At the end of the day you are cordially invited to visit the Municipal Kitchens Vorratskammer (Pantry) and take away some of the produce we have collected and preserved over the last 8 weeks. From Oaxacan kimchi to indonesian chilli sauce, everything has a story behind it. It is time to clear the shelves and we want you to take a little piece of Municipal Kitchens home with you.
We look forward to seeing you there - in celebration of the finale of Municipal Kitchens and the evolving networks that have emerged and connected during this summer of communal food.
The Torhaus Koch Kollektiv is a grassroots organisation of international food lovers and activists working together towards a more sustainable food system.
They aim for a more eco-friendly, local, and healthy food production to combat climate change. Their actions primarily take the form of collaborative events, including workshops, cooking sessions, and internal gatherings. They believe in the power of food as a shared experience to create long-lasting bonds.
Note on accessibility from the work group Municipal Kitchens:
Cooking and eating together is a shared language all of its own, so if you don’t feel confident with the spoken language(s) available at this event, please know you are still so welcome. We have multiple ways of sharing and we look forward to greeting you. We want everyone to be able to access our events, if there are any barriers to you joining us that we haven’t already tackled, please get in touch and we will do our best to support you. This includes providing childcare at daytime events (we will need at least one week’s notice).
