Municipal Kitchens invites you to a launch event to activate the exhibition and accompanying event program with a collaborative feast. Realized in collaboration with Über den Tellerrand, this event will inaugurate the communal kitchen hosted by food artist and curator Cherry Truluck.
The heart of Über den Tellerrand’s work is bringing people together through cooking and eating, creating events where everyone feels included and welcome. The highlight of each event is the sense of community and the shared enjoyment of delicious food around one table. Be sure to book for this special pre-event at 16:00 on 28th June, in which the participants will cook amazing vegetarian Syrian dishes to share under the guidance of Über den Tellerrand chef Samer Khabeer. Join the event to engage in compelling conversations, experience new tastes and build diverse networks.
Unable to participate in the cooking session before the opening? Come early to the official opening (from 19:00) and get a taste of the delicious dishes prepared together (for as long as the food lasts!)
Über den Tellerrand e.V. has been working since 2013 to promote coexistence and a shared future for all people living in Germany. Über den Tellerrand creates spaces and opportunities that encourage easy welcoming interactions between locals, and newcomers (refugees and people with a history of migration. At our community events, people have the chance to get to know each other and make friends through shared activities like cooking, gardening, painting, and playing games, and more.
Note on accessibility from the work group Municipal Kitchens:
Cooking and eating together is a shared language all of its own, so if you don’t feel confident with the spoken language(s) available at this event, please know you are still so welcome. We have multiple ways of sharing and we look forward to greeting you. We want everyone to be able to access our events, if there are any barriers to you joining us that we haven’t already tackled, please get in touch and we will do our best to support you. This includes providing childcare at daytime events (we will need at least one week’s notice).
