Palästina zwischen Augen: Between Solidarity and Silence: What remains? Palestinian voices in the GDR and now
A conversation between Mahmoud Dabdoub and and Sophie Ataya. Moderated by Irit Neidhardt.
In her multimedia installation Between Solidarity and Silence: What Remains?, Sophie Ataya (born 1994) traces interwoven stories of Palestinian migration, the GDR, and family memories spanning Damascus and Schwerin. In this intergenerational artist talk, the artist and photographer Mahmoud Dabdoub, who came to the GDR in 1981 and has lived and worked in Leipzig ever since, discuss everyday Palestinian experiences across different German social and political systems, as well as forms of solidarity and silence in exile.
